How Can I Find Out More About Spiritual Direction?

Learn what Spiritual Direction is in this very short video. If you are a religious educator, here is another short video to explore why a religious professional might seek spiritual direction with Certified Spiritual Director for Adults, Youth, and Children, Linnea Nelson.

How much does Spiritual Direction Cost and How Do I Pay?

Ongoing one-on-one spiritual direction sessions can be scheduled through this link. 2026 rates are $100 for a 55 minute session, with an general expectation of monthly sessions. Since professional development funds are often used to fund participation, let me know if you want to be billed for 5 sessions at a time (2x year). Current directees are given the opportunity to pay their original rate when they began sessions. I hope that you schedule time for rest and rejuvination in your life. I schedule July and December for study, rest, and family time so no regular sessions are scheduled for these two months. So a full year is generally 10 sessions.

Note: Payment is not made on this website. You will receive an invoice for the first session you schedule after our first pro bono session. Once we have decided to work together you will have the choice of payment online or paying by check.

Spiritual Direction, Supervision and Consultation

If you are interested in other opportunities for spiritual direction or supervision/consultation, please email me at linnea19@gmail.com. The general opportunities include:

1. Individual Spiritual Direction

Seekers come to spiritual direction/companionship to find peace, deepen spiritual practices, explore the mystery or whatever you find is greater than yourself. Most meet monthly, and some twice a month, for a year or more. Some directees have been working with me since I began practicing in 2020. Others have joined for the time they are in UU Wellspring, or when they are in transition or finding they are feeling adrift. You can bring challenges or come when you are in a place of joy. You can bring your whole self, whatever you are experiencing and whatever you believe. Sessions are $100 and I bill for 1 session at a time, more if preferred. Note that I take two pro bono directees at any time for 5 sessions. These are reserved fro religious professionals without professional development funds. I can let you know when a space opens up if you want to be on this wait list.

2. Individual Consultation or Supervision for Spiritual Directors

Consultation or supervision is $150 for a 90-minute session and $125 for one hour. Together we can decide how to fashion each session, based on your needs. Each session can be a combination of deep exploration of what is coming up for you in sessions, consulting about business practices, or resource exploration. All questions about spiritual direction practices and challenges are welcome. Please schedule two consecutive blocks of time for a 90 minute session and one block for a sixty-minute session. UUSDN (Unitarian Universalist Spiritual Direction Network) asks for a minimum of three individual supervision sessions a year in order to be a member.

2. Classes

Occasionally, Linnea offers short-term classes on topics related to leading a spiritual life. See the home page for current programs.

Why Twinflower Press?

The Linnea Flower, named by the botanist, Carl Linneas, is a twin bloom. They are found in wooded forests, especially in Sweden, where my grandmother, also named Linnea, grew up. The double bud (twinflower) parallels the companioning that spiritual direction offers. I have only been able to see them once in my life on the magical island of Orcas in the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington State.

A Few Testimonials:

“Linnea has helped me walk through the many connections in my life – both past and present, positive and challenging – to create a bigger picture of my place in the world.  She has guided my search for meaning and purpose in my work and personal relationships.  Her calm presence has helped to calm my soul.  She encourages me to stay loving towards myself, and to create gentle goals for the future.  It has been a blessing to have her as my spiritual director, especially during these uncertain times.”

Lynn Sodora, Religious Educator

“Spiritual direction with Linnea adds to the depth of my connection to the divine, and through it, the sustenance I need to minister with compassion, creativity and authenticity. Her gentle guidance and insight has allowed me to better understand my sources of strength, connection and possibility. One of the most meaningful moments of our sessions are the blessings she offers. As religious professionals, we regularly extend our care and energy to bless others. Linnea’s blessings remind me that I too am part of the abiding love I believe in and have dedicated my life to nurture.”

Rev. Jennifer Kelleher, Assistant Minister, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton

“As someone who is immersed in religious education and the spirituality of the children, youth, and parents in our program, it is easy to become distracted from making it central in my own life. How wonderful it is to have a guide that helps me explore my own spirituality. I think this guidance helps me be a better religious educator.”

Mia L Noren, Director of Religious Education
